Choices

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Every reaction is a choice. I can choose to absorb everyone else’s stress, or I can choose to seek and find serenity. I choose not to absorb everyone else’s stress. I choose to be serene. I choose to exist in a state of relative detachment. Often, it’s easier said than done but it comes easier with practice. In time, I’m learning that I simply be a fly on the wall: observe, process, and release. I don’t have to carry any of it.

God is Green

Monday, April 27th, 2009

If there is a creator, he/she/it must be green. After all, if one believes that a supreme being created the universe, wouldn’t this being also care about the health of planet Earth? Every once in awhile, I attend a church service, and I was particularly pleased this past Sunday to hear the pastor speak passionately about the need to have environmentally responsibility. Contained within the church bulletin were a series of suggestions to lead a more eco-friendly life. There were a few items which I felt were missing (such as eating less or no meat), but I was otherwise very impressed and thrilled to hear a church leader equate the love of the creator in terms of loving and caring for the planet.
