God is Green

Monday, April 27th, 2009

If there is a creator, he/she/it must be green. After all, if one believes that a supreme being created the universe, wouldn’t this being also care about the health of planet Earth? Every once in awhile, I attend a church service, and I was particularly pleased this past Sunday to hear the pastor speak passionately about the need to have environmentally responsibility. Contained within the church bulletin were a series of suggestions to lead a more eco-friendly life. There were a few items which I felt were missing (such as eating less or no meat), but I was otherwise very impressed and thrilled to hear a church leader equate the love of the creator in terms of loving and caring for the planet.

Capital Adventure

Monday, April 6th, 2009

I will be absent for the next few weeks on a “capital” adventure of untouched country, fresh air, history, and, of course, planes, trains(?) and automobiles! While most of the logical world might surmise that going somewhere warmer might be more pleasurable, I respectfully disagree, noting that going somewhere colder == an increased warmth in coming home. Given my historical tendency to repeat favoured vacation destinations, Iceland will represent a distinctive break from the ordinary… an expected foray into the extraordinary. Catch you all on the flip side!
